AGRIBUSINESS: UN and US disagree massively over coca

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime reported in its annual World Drug Report, published on 25 June, that worldwide drug production and consumption was stabilising, not increasing. This optimistic view is very different from what the US's Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) claims. The differences between the UN and the US are at the most acute over Colombia's coca acreage. The difference should have major implications for the US's anti-drugs policy.
