PERU: Bothered by dollar weakness

The economy and finance minister, Luis Carranza, said that the weakness of the dollar against the Sol was inevitable. At the beginning of October the Sol touched NS$3.03 to the dollar. This was the highest rate since October 1998. Carranza said that the main reason why the Sol was rising was that the economy was growing so fast. He said that it had grown by 7.6% in 2006 and would grow by about 8% in 2007.
