VENEZUELA: Odd inflation figures

The May inflation figures showed that the cost of goods whose prices are set by the government is rising faster than the cost of goods whose prices are set by the market. The implications of this anomaly are important. The main one is that inflation is likely to fall in the second half of the year, which could be an important factor in the municipal and regional elections in December.
