MEXICO: 'Zapatista troops still on red alert'
Zapatista leader 'Marcos', in what appears to be a desperate bid to retain public attention, has now taken to reinterpreting the lifting of the 'red alert' which his movement had announced in June [WR-05-28]. In a communiqué devoted mainly to attacking Andrés Manuel López Obrador, frontrunning presidential aspirant of the leftist Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD), Marcos claims that the alert remains in force for the Zapatista 'insurgent troops'.
