CUBA: Cuba's 21st Century Socialism

Economic realities have forced the Cuban government to cut spending. This austerity, advocated by President Raúl Castro, has been accompanied by efforts to incentivise workers, decentralise decision making and inch towards more targeted social spending. They are not just interim cost saving measures - they also point to an unprecedented shift from the 'egalitarianian' ideology of the 1959 Revolution.
