Two of the middle sized economies in the region received
international accolades in mid-December. First Chile was finally and formally
invited to join the developed economies' club, the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD). Then a day later, on 16 December, Peru was
given an investment grade credit rating by Moody's.
