The government is getting increasingly desperate in its efforts to combat the leftist guerrilla group Sendero Luminoso. It is considering dusting off an old plan to form a battalion of troops to fight Sendero, Interior Minister Fernando Rospigliosi announced, adding that support from the US would be welcome.
