COLOMBIA: Top rebel killed

The crackdown on the Colombia's armed rebels instituted by President Alvaro Uribe has scored its largest success to date with the killing of Édgar Gustavo Navarro Morales. Otherwise known as 'El Mocho', Navarro was the second-in-command of one of the biggest columns of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia. His death, along with that of 10 other Farc cadres, was the culmination of a six-month long operation by the military.
