The unemployment rate fell to 12.2% in November, the first time this year the numbers out of work have fallen. The drop on the October rate of 12.9% was substantial, but year-on-year the figure is less impressive. In November 2002 the rate was 10.9%, according to the Instituto Brasilerio de Geografia e Estatí­stica.
