President Lucio Gutiérrez has appealed to social organisations and indigenous groups to resume talks with the government to find solutions to the country's problems. He called on them to abandon plans to hold a massive demonstration on 21 January. He also made a hatful of promises not to increase the price of gas, fuel prices, telephone tariffs or transport fares.
