The administration of President Alejandro Toledo is reeling from the latest wave of corruption charges. The opposition parties Unidad Nacional and Partido Aprista Peruano (PAP) have pulled out of the Acuerdo Nacional de Gobernabilidad (National Governance Agreement) and are trying to prepare the way for elections before they are constitutionally due in 2006.
