The opposition has rejected all calls to negotiate with President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The leader of the opposition Convergence Démocratique, Evans Paul, told representatives from the Caribbean Community (Caricom) that he would never hold talks with Aristide again. The meeting took place in the Bahamian embassy in Petion-Ville, on the outskirts of the capital Port-au-Prince. The Caricom delegation was headed by the Bahamian foreign affairs minister Fred Mitchell, and Caricom assistant secretary general Colin Granderson.
