BRAZIL: Government accused of trying to curb press freedom

Development: The president of the National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj), Fred Ghedini, has defended in congress the government's proposal to create the Federal Journalism Council (CFJ). Ghedini told a parliamentary commission in Brasí­lia on 10 August that the council was necessary to put an end to 'sham journalism'.
