CUBA: Castro launches 'cultural revolution'

President Fidel Castro has launched a tropical version of China's notorious Cultural Revolution, calling on the youth to help stamp out corruption, fraud and the errors of the 'special period' - the aftermath of the withdrawal of Soviet subsidies. The targets, as in previous 'cleansing' exercises, will be the 'social parasites'. The drive entails a comprehensive roll-back of the limited opening to private enterprise which he had encouraged as a response to the hardships of the special period.
