The US claims that its War on Drugs is beginning to show measurable success

The US is claiming demonstrable success for its antidrugs policy, in particular for Plan Colombia. John Walters, the White House antidrugs 'czar', announced last week that retail prices for cocaine in the US have been falling and the purity of the drug has been decreasing - both together suggesting a decline in availability, which points to the success of the antidrugs effort.
