GUATEMALA: Berger's popularity sinks on violent crime record

Development: The deterioration in domestic security is rapidly eroding the popularity of President Oscar Berger. Berger's approval rating hit a low of 55.8% in January. Shortly after he came to power in January 2004, he was the most popular head-of-state in Latin America with an approval rating of 83%.
