MEXICO | Pension system on the brink. The liabilities of Mexico's pension system are already equivalent to one-and-a-half times GDP and headed for growth at annual rates of 8% to 12%, which if unchecked, spells collapse fairly soon. This warning came from a study commissioned by Imef, the institute of finance executives. This calculation, says the author of the study, Marcela Flores, is conservative since it does not include the liabilities for healthcare.
