BRAZIL: Alckmin for the PSDB, and he's started to rise

Public opinion in Brazil is becoming exceedingly difficult to second-guess. Last week one opinion survey showed President Lula da Silva having recovered enough to win re-election comfortably. That, however, was before the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) chose Geraldo. Alckmin - the least likely to win according to previous polls - as its presidential candidate. A second survey, conducted after the nomination, showed Lula stalling and Alckmin gaining ground.
