MEXICO: More feds deployed in northern border campaign

An additional 800 federal police officers have been deployed on the streets of Nuevo Laredo - the city whose record of violence has become the focus for US attention. They arrived to reinforce the 300 already posted there under the México Seguro anti-crime drive launched last June. The augmented contingent is the spearhead of a new anti-crime drive, codenamed Frontera Norte, a joint federal-state undertaking which has already had its baptism of fire.
