Even the most cautious description of what happened in Asunción on 29 March would have to acknowledge that people turned out in their thousands to protest against what many perceive as President Nicanor Duarte's violation of the constitution [WR-06-13]. Present among the protesters were members of all the opposition parties, plus disaffected members of the ruling Colorado party, and an array of other organisations.
