Tracking Trends

BRAZIL | Hiccup in industrial growth. Alarm bells began to ring when official figures were published last week showing that industrial production in March was down 0.3% on February. The national statistical institute, Ibge, chose however to highlight the fact that output in the first quarter was 4.6% higher than in the comparable period of 2005, making it the second consecutive quarter of growth after three quarters of stagnation last year.
