ARGENTINA: The consumer confidence index rose by 0.9% month-on-month in March, according to economic think-tank Fundación Mercado.

ARGENTINA: Tax revenue rose 33.6% in March from a year earlier.

ARGENTINA-BRAZIL: Brazil posted a US$581m trade surplus with Argentina in the first quarter of 2007, down from US$855m in the same period of 2006, according to data of Brazil's Development, Industry and Trade Ministry.

BRAZIL: Sales of holiday packages between October and March fell 40%. Travel agencies blamed the decline on problems with air travel.

COLOMBIA: The trade deficit stood at US$341m in January compared with a deficit of US$9.9m in the same month a year earlier, according to the national statistics department, DANE.

COSTA RICA: The consumer price index rose 0.72% month-on-month in March.

PARAGUAY: The consumer price index fell 1.0% month-on-month in March. 

PERU: The central bank announced on 3 April that it has held its benchmark interest rate steady at 4.5%.
