COLOMBIA: Ever murkier demobilisation 'impossible to process'

The government of President Alvaro Uribe found itself on the defensive last week as its rationale for the reclassification of a prominent drug trafficker as a demobilised paramilitary fighter was challenged by the OAS observer mission and by the opposition. Equivocal statements by peace commissioner Luis Carlos Restrepo did not help the government's case.
