MEXICO: Violence. On average, 11 policemen have been killed in each month this year. What has changed this year, according to a survey of the figures, is that more senior officers are being killed. So far this year, 13 police chiefs and four deputy police chiefs as well as 21 commanders and three coordinators have been killed. The most dangerous state in which to be a policeman is Michoacán. It is also worth noting that Nuevo Laredo, in Tamaulipas, is still without a police chief after two were killed in 2005.
