Pinochet's funeral stirs tension in army

The funeral of General Augusto Pinochet did not trigger massive street protests but it did cause ructions in the armed forces after the former dictator's grandson, Captain Augusto Pinochet Molina, mounted a podium to declaim that Pinochet had saved Chile from Communism. He was expelled from the army on 13 December, the day after the funeral. His was not the only head to roll: two days later General Ricardo Hargreaves was discharged for making similar remarks.
