Argentina's Kirchner seeks regional role

Development: On 6 October Argentina's president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, asked her Chilean counterpart Michelle Bachelet to back Néstor Kirchner (Fernández's husband) as secretary general of Unión de Naciones Suramericanas (Unasur). Significance: Kirchner's desire to lead Unasur is surprising.
