Development: On 20 July, after the second round of talks
between the two delegations representing the ousted Honduran president, Manuel
Zelaya, and the de facto administration that replaced him were suspended without
agreement, the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, telephoned the head of
the de facto government, Roberto Micheletti, from New Delhi, India, in an effort
to help him understand 'the potential consequences of the failure to take
advantage of this mediation' (led by Costa Rica's President Oscar Arias).
