PERU: Intelligence leak evokes Fujimori-era

The revelation this week that classified military intelligence is being leaked to private security firms caused major embarrassment to the government which has ordered an internal investigation into the source of the leak. So far the leak has only been traced to a captain in navy intelligence (Dintemar) but he was clearly not operating alone. Peru is particularly sensitive to these sorts of disclosures as they instantly raise concerns that vestiges of the military intelligence network established under Vladimiro Montesinos, the spymaster of former president Alberto Fujimori, remain in place.
