Brazil: The rate of unemployment in the six main metropolitan areas fell to 7.5% in October, down from 7.7% in September and the lowest since December 2008 (when it was 6.8%). The real average wage was R$1.349.70 in October, not much changed on the previous month but up 3.2% year-on-year over October 2008. The percentage of the labour force in formal employment was 44.9% in the first ten months of 2009, a record for the current series (dating to 2002).
