Amorim: "Cheapest sometimes the dearest"

Development: On 7 January in Paris, France, Brazil's foreign minister, Celso Amorim, gave the strongest hint yet that President Lula da Silva will overlook military reservations to award a R$10bn (US$5.7bn) defence contract (known as 'FX-2') for 36 new air force fighter jets to the French firm Dassault, a political decision in line with Lula's much vaunted 'strategic relationship' with France's President Nicolas Sarkozy.
