Breakthrough in El Salvador’s institutional crisis

Development: On 27 July the ruling left-wing Frente Farabundo Martí de Liberación Nacional (FMLN), the right-wing opposition Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (Arena), the Partido Demócrata Cristiano (PDC) and one independent deputy voted to repeal Decree 743, approved on 2 June, which had effectively paralysed the constitutional branch of the supreme court (Sala Constitucional, SC) by stipulating that rulings had to be reached unanimously, rather than by a majority.
