BOLIVIA: Morales receives unwitting boost

President Evo Morales is being accused of "judicialising politics" to target the opposition governors of Tarija and Beni: last week Beni's Ernesto Suárez was ordered under house arrest [WR-11-20] while Tarija's Mario Cossío has fled the country. The one remaining traditional opposition region, Santa Cruz, led by Morales' long time nemesis, governor Rubén Costas, is now embroiled in a leadership crisis, although this time not at the hands of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government.
