There was some, but not much, expectation that US President Barack Obama's second visit to Latin America might bring some sign of renewed US interest in the region. It did not. There was rhetoric about ‘partnership' and pleasantries about democracy, peppered with what many have seen as evasions, omissions and faux pas.
