ARGENTINA | Trade surplus. Argentina posted a trade surplus in May of US$1.68bn, down 13% on the same month a year earlier, according to the national statistics institute (Indec). This despite breaking the record for exports for a single month since the measure was set up in 1970. Exports totalled US$8.04bn, but imports also surged to US$6.36bn. The trade surplus for the first five months of the year was US$4.77bn, down 21% on the same period in 2010.
