EL SALVADOR | Food security plan. President Mauricio Funes has unveiled a new national food and nutrition security policy. Under the scheme, some 325,000 families of farmers will be provided with subsidies to boost national food production and reduce dependence on food imports. El Salvador currently imports 90% of its vegetables, 30% of its beans and corn, and 60% of its rice.
