PARAGUAY: Familiar name takes over interior ministry

Senator Carlos Filizzola was sworn in as the new interior minister in the administration of President Fernando Lugo on 26 August. Filizzola, a member of Partido País Solidario (PPS), a party in the left-wing Frente Guasú coalition, replaces Federico Acuña, who resigned for health reasons. Acuña only assumed the post on 17 June from Rafael Filizzola, a cousin of the new broom, who had been dismissed by Lugo in strange circumstances.
