Rio’s 'pacified’ favelas erupt again
Development: On 6 September in the Favela Grota do Alemão, in northern Rio, a 15-year old girl, Ana Lúcia da Silva, was killed by a stray bullet, which hit her in the head during an intense exchange of gunfire between rival drug trafficking gangs and military officers from the pacification force that has occupied the notorious Complexo do Alemão since November 2010.
