Development: On 14 September presidential hopeful Manuel Baldizón of the Libertad Democrática Renovada (Líder) announced a legislative alliance with the ruling centre-left Unidad Nacional de la Esperanza (UNE) of former First Lady Sandra Torres, its right-leaning ally,Gran Alianza Nacional and two lesser parties, Unidad del Cambio Nacionalista (UCN) and Partido de Avanzada Nacional (PAN) ahead of the new congress.
