Development: On 16 September the Inter American Court of Human Rights (CorteIDH) ruled that the political rights of Leopoldo López, leader of the opposition party Voluntad Popular, were violated by the State of Venezuela and ordered them restored so that López can, if he wishes, seek elected office in 2012.
