EL SALVADOR | Remittances. According to El Salvador’s Central Bank (BCR), remittances reached US$2.4bn in the first eight months of the year, a 4.8% increase on the US$2.3bn registered over the same period in 2010. The average monthly amount between January and August this year was US$308m, up from US$289m over the same period in 2010. Remittances to El Salvador totalled US$3.5bn in 2010, second only to Guatemala in Central America.
