Diversifying away from the US

Mexico’s vehicle industry is becoming less dependent on exports to the US. Production in the first seven months came to 1.43m vehicles, a 14% increase on the same period of 2010 and 20% up on the same period of 2008. Exports are currently running at 83% of production. In the first seven months of 2011, 1.19m vehicles were shipped out of Mexico, 16% more than for the same period of 2010 and 25% more than for the same period of 2008.
