PERU: Campaign against corruption bites

No sooner did President Ollanta Humala reiterate his commitment to crack down on corruption than an influence-peddling scandal embroiled his second Vice-President Omar Chehade. Humala is acutely aware that this could seriously damage his credibility, particularly as it risks undermining the entire operation to clean up the image of the police force before it even gets started [WR-11-41].
