IMF to resume talks. An IMF mission is expected back in Santo Domingo this week to resume discussions on the first review of the standby agreement with the Dominican Republic. These talks were interrupted a month ago following the Mejía government's decision to purchase the two power distribution companies. IMF chief spokesman Thomas Dawson has said that the independent expert panel looking into this purchase 'is making good progress and its final report is expected by the middle of this month.'
