After six months of student protests and a succession of fumbling government responses, some sort of solution to the issue of education reform seems to be emerging. Bizarrely, the unpopular political opposition in congress, the Concertación alliance, plus three other independent parties, have come up with a compromise which appears acceptable to the government, teachers and probably most of the moderate student protesters.
