MEXICO: Peña Nieto registers as sole PRI candidate
The former governor of the Estado de México, Enrique Peña Nieto, registered on 27 November as the only presidential pre-candidate for the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI). The PRI and the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) are the only parties already to have decided on their presidential candidate. Theoretically, this means that neither of these two parties can campaign on television or radio from 18 December to 15 February, which is the period reserved for internal party campaigns.
