Development: On 1 December Felipe Cáceres, Bolivia’s deputy minister of social defence, who is responsible for anti drugs efforts, announced that in the first 11 months of 2011 the authorities had destroyed 10,051 hectares of illegal coca plantations and seized 25.9 tonnes of cocaine base and five tonnes of cocaine.
