ARGENTINA: Dollar problems

The banking system seems to running short of dollars. Central bank reserves are now down to US$46bn and the cost of dollar credit for pre-export finance has risen sharply. The central bank has also demanded that commercial banks give it 10 days notice of dollar purchases.
