Keep calm and carry on

President Dilma Rousseff insists that Brazil is ‘armoured’ against the continuing global turbulence and has encouraged Brazilians to “keep on producing and consuming”. “Now is not the time to tremble”, she encourages. Brazil’s domestic market, which accounts for around two-thirds of GDP (compared with just 13%-14% for exports), was its saving grace in the 2008-2009 crisis.
