Development: On 27 January the eastern gas-rich Bolivian department of Tarija ended eight days of blockades and protests after reaching an agreement with the government of President Evo Morales over a government-proposed study to determine whether the Margarita gas field, which lies within Tarija’s Chaco region, extends to the neighbouring department of Chuquisaca.
