Saying his goodbyes. On 31 January, President Felipe Calderón met with PAN senators to discuss the party’s plan for the next legislature. Calderón told senators that although this is an electoral year, there is “a lot to be done” and asked them to push through pending reforms. Recognising that this was probably the last time he would preside over such a meeting, Calderón nostalgically reflected on his time as president: “the truth is I have been really, yes, happy in doing my job, despite all the vicissitudes”. However, he also added that he had “lost friends”. Meanwhile PAN president, José González Morfín, called on the party to remain united to face the “wave of attacks” on the achievements made by Calderón’s administration.
